Q. Why do I have to sign up?
We provide the public with a unique opportunity for to preview the latest releases in Urban and Inspiration music. We ask for very limited information such as email age and general location so that we can keep our content focused on our readership.
Q. Will I receive spam when I sign up?
No. We at the Frequency respect your rights to privacy. We neither spam nor do we sell these email addresses. When you provide us your email by default we add you to our Frequent Facts distribution list.
Q. What are the "Frequent Facts?"
Listen to the latest new music First! The "Frequent Facts" is a bi-weekly electronic blast that is an addendum to the monthly Frequency Magazine. The digital blast is fully interactive and delivers artist's music, videos, images, and other pertinent information directly to our industry insiders. The Frequent Facts enables you to track a song from the day it is released to the public and watch it grow, become a Hit or your favorite song.
Q. Can I download music from the Frequent Facts?
No you can not download music directly. You can only listen to it. If you are a Professional user you can go to the frequency news Music server directly from the Frequent Facts Blast and download the music, provided you are registered as a Professional user. The Frequent Facts Blast will be used to promote these releases to the public during a pre-release promotional period.
Q. How can I download the Music?
Members of the public can listen but can't download music. As the music becomes available for sale many of the listings in the Music Server will be available for sale to the public via a "buy it now" button. This will take you directly to the appropriate site for purchasing the song like Itunes, Amazon, the Label or the Artist direct.
Q. What is a "Professional Account?"
A professional account is an account that provides access to the PD Lounge (program directors forum) and higher level access to the Music server. Professionals must be approved directly by the Staff of The Frequency. These professionals would be typically provided with music directly from the promotions departments of Music Labels. They will be able to download the latest releases in a format suitable for broadcast over High Definition Radio. Professionals would be Program Directors, DJ's and others.
Q. What kind of player will I need to listen to this music on the site?

It is the most widely distributed and supported player for internet browsers, making our interface simple and easy for the public as well as insiders to access and use.

and load the latest flash player.
Q. Can I find any genre of music on this server?
No. We have made a decision at this time to stay true to Urban and Inspirational demographics, Urban Main, Urban Adult, Rhythm and Inspirational. The content will be the latest releases for the major labels and many Indies prior to public release. This focus is unique in the industry and provides program directors and DJ's with a simple interface to review and download the music they need to maintain the latest in programming.
Q. What other content may I find on this server?
We will include video clips, remixes, and promo spots. These are all valuable tools to program directors and DJ's. It will prove to be a valuable portal for industry insiders.
Q. What about the quality of the music? There are so many MP3's out there that just sound bad they can't be broadcast quality?
The music that is made available directly from our server to the Program Directors and the DJ's will be the highest quality possible. Our preference is WAV files but from time to time we will provide MP3's at bit rates of 256k and 320k. The highest bit rate supported by ISO decoders is 320kbps. For the most part 256kbps files are about 10MB in size and produce sound that exceeds broadcast quality capabilities. WAV files are equal to quality to the original recording and can be 50-60MB in size. In order to maintain quality demanded by our profession going forward we will establish posting and distribution quality control standards that will help ensure this broadcast quality.
Q. What about the quality of the listening stream we hear from the play button?
In order to offer the highest quality of sample music to the public, we will most likely settle on a bit rate of 320kbps. This rate provides the highest quality listening experience over the internet. Lower bit rates will not be available for download to our professionals so that we can preserve the quality of music distributed on our server. Professionals will be able to download only the highest bit rate MP3 or WAV file.
