Jay Stevens is the Frequency's Editor-at-Large. His contributions help shape the direction of the publication. His monthly column is a fresh, personal, honest, conversation about all things programming, radio and industry related. Jay started his career nearly 30 years ago as a freshman at Brockport State University with the one dream, "to be a guy on the radio". Upon graduation his career kept moving forward and upward. Jay was Vice President of Programming, overseeing the CBS DC stations as well as the CBS Urban stations, and after 16 years of programming WPGC/CBS to #1 ratings, Jay was recruited as Sr. VP Programming Content for Radio One, his current position. Jay currently oversees 53 Radio Stations in 15 of the Top 53 African-American Markets. As a Veteran Programmer Jay has been featured in numerous Trade publications such as Radio & Records, Billboard Magazine, & Radio Ink Highly regarded & well respected in the Industry Jay has received numerous Industry Awards & accolades for his creative, innovative style of programming. While helping to program gospel, mainstream urban and urban AC stations around the country, Jay is also heavily involved in strategy and new company initiatives such as tying radio into all the platforms that Radio One Inc. owns including Internet, TV One, & Giant Magazine. With his winning spirit and "Make It Happen" attitude, Jay Stevens continues to help shape and grow this ever-changing technology of Radio.
