Samantha "Sam" Dixon is The Frequency's Copy Editor and Contributing Writer. Writing is her passion. Music is her muse. Born and raised in Pasadena, California, she is a West Coast girl thru and thru. Her faith, work ethic, creative talents, and overall positive energy, continue to lead her towards remarkable opportunities. A former teen mom determined to beat the odds and dedicated to making a productive difference in her local neighborhoods, Sam has been the Community Action Field Manager for 100.3 The Beat FM; Special Promotions & Projects Manager for Clearchannel Radio's Los Angeles Cluster; Sales Account Executive for Hot 92 Jamz FM; and Promotions Director for Radio One's V100 FM. While in Television, she was Viacom's sole Western Region Affiliate Sales and Marketing Promotions Manager for MTV Network's 33 channels (including BET), and spearheaded the company's regional Pro-Social Network Initiatives. In 2008, Samantha became blessed with the opportunity to work on a newly launched trade, The Frequency Magazine. Most recently, she was the Assistant Writer/Researcher for Hill Harper's newest book, which made #2 on the New York Times Best Seller List in 2009. Samantha holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multi-Media Communications from California State University Northridge. She is currently a freelance writer-for-hire; full time Pharmacy Specialist for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation; Mommy to an amazing 14 year old; Wife-to-Be in 2010; and actively working on a new book project.
